Thank you for visiting our Website.
I say "our" because your voice is my voice. Our Website has been designed for you - my neighbors, my friends, and each of you who has supported me in my efforts over the past four years, for all of you who are interested in our city, in your future in the city, and those of you who have never voted before. My focus has been, and continues to be, the people of Salisbury. I want to continue to represent you because you inspire me to take on the tough challenges, whether seeing that your money is wisely used or standing up for you when the current leadership turns a deaf ear. There is so much more to be done to make our city the best it can be for you. The past four years have been an uphill battle for your concerns. In some instances we have accomplished improvements. In others, we have caused attention to be directed in progressive and innovative ways. In order to continue, I need your help. I need your vote. I need contributions of time, money, and dedication to the issues that concern the citizens of Salisbury. Over the past four years I have been privileged to attend conferences, learn new skills, and bring home to Salisbury some new and innovative to create better government, one that truly serves the citizens. My diligence during the audit process has finally led to the pursuit of reform in the city's financial operations. Through my leadership and cooperation with Councilwoman Cohen in raising public awareness and scrutiny of the budget process, many expense cuts and the first line-item amendment in years were realized for the benefit of the taxpayers. I have been recognized professionally as a leader in issues that affect all of us. I want to continue to apply those skills to the governance of the city of Salisbury. Please help me in my quest to have our city government live up to your expectations. Together, you and I have been working for four years to help Salisbury be free of the blight that has grown due to the failed policies of the current administration and council majority. We've moved Salisbury's government in a more positive direction, but there is much more to do. Salisbury can't afford crime that robs our citizens of the most basic sense of safety in their own homes and neighborhoods. Taxpayers and ratepayers can't afford any more giveaways like the special $14 million tax deal (TIF) for the old mall or developer reimbursements like those given to Sassafras Meadows at your expense. And Salisbury can't afford to have its current needs, infrastructure and neighborhoods ignored because of a rabid and unsustainable pursuit of "growth." I want to work with other council members and a mayor who are committed to fighting crime and managing your tax dollars in meaningful, effective ways. We must monitor programs and the future of our fiscal stability. We need to "watch dog" the special interest groups that effect policy within the city. We need city leadership that will fight for good paying jobs and healthy economic development while protecting our river and environment. This is where you, your vote, your time, and your contributions make the difference, not only in ensuring my re-election, but also in other ways that will put our city back on the right track. Together, we can make Salisbury a city that reflects those of you who live here, a place we can enjoy, be safe and raise our families. Let's make our city government truly responsive and accountable to its citizens again. Most of all, let's make it a place we can be proud to call our home - Salisbury, Maryland.
